Lock Poker launched in 2007 and has recently become very popular in the US market. After Black Friday Lock Poker quickly became the most popular US poker site although they had to stop accepting US players from June 3rd – October 13th 2011. Lock Poker is now back open to the US market and they’ve recently released several new player promotions. Lock Poker is on the Merge Network and the traffic has only grown the past year, which has made the games much juicer for the average player.
The Merge Network is trying to earn a bigger share of players outside of the USA, but currently most of the players on the network and at Lock Poker are from the United States. With the state of the industry there aren’t many high stake players online anymore, but you can find ring table games running 24/7 at Lock Poker with stakes up to $1/$2. Lock Poker Bonus Overview
Lock Poker has one of the better sign-up bonuses, but most US poker sites have great welcome bonuses right now. Lock Poker is giving new players a 150% match bonus for up to $750 on your 1st deposit. The bonus is cleared into your real money balance in $5 increments every time you earn 375 FPP’s and it doesn’t take very long to clear the bonus although there is no time limit. Lock Poker Software
Lock Poker is a member of the Merge Gaming Network and leases their software to run their poker room. The software is stable and there are plenty of features, but it really doesn’t stand out compared to any other poker skins. Lock Poker has gone with a sleek design that’s nice and easy on the eyes, but also very dull if you’re going to be grinding out long sessions. I like all of the features on the software such as multi-tabling and the ability to rabbit hunt and certain other unique features.
You need to download the software in order to play at Lock Poker, but there is a download option for PC and Mac users. I wish there was an instant play version or mobile version of the software, but at this time there isn’t. Lock Poker definitely chose a great partner for their software suite and it’s the best network open to players in the USA. Lock Poker accepts most Americans although players that live in New York, Kentucky, Washington DC, Maryland, Washington, Missouri and Louisiana.
Lock Poker Games & Tournaments
Lock Poker features tons of poker games including Texas Holdem, 5 Card Joker, 5 Card Draw, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Stud, Badugi, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, Ace-5 Lowball, Deuce-7 Lowball, HORSE, Omaha and Razz. Most of the action is on the Holdem tables, but you can find steady action on a few of the other poker games at Lock Poker. Cash games are the most popular form of poker at Lock Poker and the tournament selection is actually lacking compared to the majority of poker sites we’ve reviewed.
You’ll be able to play a wide variety of sit and go tournaments and heads-up tournaments at Lock Poker, but there aren’t that many big guaranteed prize pool tournaments, which make some players choose another poker room. Lock Poker does run daily freerolls for players with added prize pools, but don’t expect to play in massive $100K+ GTD prize pool tournaments. If you typically play cash games you’ll have no issues with Lock Poker and there is a nice selection of small S&G’s to keep you busy.
Lock Poker VIP Program & Promotions
Lock Poker has an excellent 4-tier VIP Program that players get to participate in. The rewards increase with each level that you earn and in order to move up levels you simply need to earn a certain amount of VIP Points each month. To reach the White VIP level you need to earn 1000 VIP Points, to reach the Silver VIP level you need to earn 5000 VIP Points, to reach the Black VIP level you need to earn 10,000 VIP Points and to reach the Black Elite VIP level you need to earn 50,000 VIP Points every month.
Players will be able to earn cashback, exclusive bonuses, VIP Vault access, entry into exclusive freerolls and much more. There are also monthly promotions running at Lock Poker that you can participate in including monthly leaderboards and much more.
Lock Poker Overall Summary
Lock Poker is a great US-friendly poker room, but if you outside of the USA there are better options. Tournaments players won’t find Lock Poker to be suitable, but low limit cash game players will find plenty of action. Lock Poker has fairly slow payouts at the moment, but they do payout and there have no complaints above non-payouts at all.
